Goodman boosts Barcelona's logistics sector with its second multi-storey development

Tuesday, 21 June 2022

As land in Barcelona becomes scarce, multi-storey warehouses are proving to be a viable solution for companies that want sustainable logistics facilities close to consumers. Goodman is delivering on this trend with the completion of Goodman Castellbisbal Logistics Centre - its second multi-storey real estate logistics project in Spain.

Strategically located close to the city of Barcelona, this innovative solution stands out for its versatile design and sustainability features. The project consists of two 13,200 sqm units and provides flexibility by allowing two customers to operate independently or the units can be combined for a single customer. The facility responds to the growing need for high quality logistics space around Barcelona, where high demand and limited supply have seen availability decline to only 2.5% in the Catalan logistics market in the first quarter of 2022*. The facility is now available.

On completion of the project, Ignacio García Cuenca, Country Manager of Goodman Spain, highlighted, “Our customers want to be as close to their customers as possible, to maximise delivery speed and reduce transport emissions. Land is a scarce asset that we must use efficiently to ensure the sustainable development of our cities. Multi-storey solutions optimise land use, reflecting a significant land saving. The offer of logistics space in Barcelona, where almost 5.5 million consumers are concentrated, is increasingly limited. Innovative, flexible and sustainable facilities such as Goodman Castellbisbal Logistics Centre will offer our customers a fast and agile service for their customers".

Goodman has drawn on its internationally recognised expertise in the development of such solutions. Currently, the company has more than 40 multi-storey facilities built or under development around the world, and around 50% of its current projects are multi-storey ones. Last year, Goodman inaugurated the first multi-storey logistics facility in Spain in Molins de Rei, Barcelona.

The property is located at Carrer Ferralla, 24 in Castellbilbal 28 kilometres away from the centre of Barcelona, at the intersection of two of the most important highways in Spain, the A-2 and the AP-7.
