Wednesday, 09 January 2019

SEUR Logística will begin operating from its new 36,000 sqm facility in early 2020, increasing the company’s capacity to offer logistics solutions. The new warehouse will be built by Goodman with key sustainability features, including charging points for SEUR’s electric vehicle fleet, and designed to achieve the BREEAM Very Good certification.

SEUR Logística, the business unit of SEUR dedicated to offering complete transport and logistics solutions, will consolidate its warehouses in the Madrid region at a new facility in Illescas. Goodman, one of the world’s leading industrial property companies, will begin construction of the new site covering over 36,000 sqm in March 2019. It is scheduled to be operational in early 2020, allowing the company to increase its storage capacity and raise the efficiency of its Madrid operations.

The delivery of this new warehouse in Illescas will result in the unification of SEUR’s logistics operations which are currently carried out at its current 15,000 sqm facility in Getafe and its 12,000 sqm facility in Alcalá de Henares. The new space will provide employment for 200 staff with 1,600 sqm dedicated to offices and staff amenity.

“These new facilities are a result of our strategy to continually improve the service we provide to our clients. By unifying our operations at a strategic location such as Illescas, we can consolidate our logistics operation at a single location, optimising the management of the warehouse and the transport routes,” said Carlos Cavero, Director of SEUR Logística.

SEUR’s new facilities, developed by Goodman will be located at the environmentally sustainable industrial estate, La Velilla II and the smart and sustainable warehouse will be built in accordance with both companies’ environmental and sustainable policies. In addition to the elements that will be used in construction to reduce energy consumption, it will include charging points for the company’s growing fleet of electric vehicles and green resting spaces for employees. These characteristics will be key to the facility qualifying for the BREEAM Very Good certification.

Commenting on the new development, Ignacio García Cuenca, Country Manager of Goodman Spain said, “sustainability and operational efficiency are key to logistics requirements. We have worked closely with SEUR to develop a solution that responds to current and future needs and that will help our customer to compete in an increasingly demanding market environment. Location is a key factor when it comes to operational efficiency”.

Illescas has established itself in the last 12 months as a focal point for logistics activity following the arrival of leading companies from a range of industries.
