For more than 25 years, Goodman has been creating space for the most ambitious projects around the world, providing long term benefits for its clients. With this in mind, and to adapt to local needs, Goodman is pioneering multi-storey logistics facilities in Spain.

Customer demand for strategically located space is increasing, and the availability of land is scarce. As a result, the need for innovative solutions has never been more important, and by creating multi-storey facilities, Goodman is opening up opportunities for multiple retail, e-commerce and third-party logistics customers to be in prime locations close to their consumers.

Projects of this nature often involve vital public-private partnerships. To that end, Goodman collaborated with the regional fire department and local authorities in planning Barcelona Gateway City project - ensuring all the safety and compliance requirements are fulfilled while also providing customers with versatile and efficient spaces for their logistics operations. Molins de Rei and Castellbisbal Logistics Centre are the first multi-storey facility in Spain to have obtained administrative approval from the regional government’s General Direction of Prevention, Fire Extinction and Rescue to be able to be operated by different clients -up to four in the case of Molins de Rei and two at the Castellbisbal facilities.

Our customers are looking for efficiency in the supply chain which relies on having high-quality facilities in prime locations close to major consumer hubs in order to speed up delivery time, reduce transport costs and limit the carbon footprint.”

Goodman Logistics Centre Molins de Rei is a multilevel logistics facility and crossdock -a total of 46,000 sqm-fully leased to the international transport and logistics company DSV, where it will bring together its two divisions: its transport division, DSV Road, and its logistics business, DSV Solutions.

Castellbisbal Logistics Centre, the second multi-storey facility, comprises two independent 14,700 sqm units, which can be interconnected. Each unit is equipped with the necessary elements for two customers to operate independently or to be combined for a single customer. On completion, Goodman will apply for a BREEAM Excellent environmental certificate, one of the most advanced certifications for environmental sustainability in buildings.

García Cuenca said “the two new developments in Barcelona are in line with our strategy of investing in prime locations and creating innovative solutions thought for the long term that assist our customers reach their consumers. These facilities will benefit the broader community by providing employment opportunities for the local area, and allow customers to reach areas with the highest levels of delivery demand”.

Goodman has extensive experience in developing multi-storey facilities, having developed 28 multi-storey logistics centres worldwide in Asia where land is scarce due to high population density. Goodman manages and has developed 2.8 million square metres of logistics space on 1.3 million square metres of land, representing a 214% land use optimisation rate.
