low carbon materials

We start by having a holistic and precise understanding of the carbon emissions of each of our buildings, based on data gathered through detailed life cycle assessments.
Armed with these facts, we develop effective approaches to reduce the embodied carbon emissions in our built environment. Strategies to reduce emissions include innovative building designs that reduce emissions, and replacing high-emission materials with low-carbon ones. This covers procurement policies that favour locally-sourced products, and creating partnerships to reduce emissions across our value chains, in joint actions with our suppliers and business partners.
We acknowledge the building industry’s impact on emissions, and are committed to making an active contribution to global carbon neutrality. Our mitigation activities – in our own operations and beyond the value chain – are aligned with recognised international standards and initiatives accredited by The International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA). We also target projects that align with our sustainability focus areas, including clean energy, biodiversity, human wellbeing, and with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Reducing the embodied carbon emissions in our sector requires long term commitment, and we act to stimulate the transition to low carbon, in our business strategy and by leveraging innovation.
